History

The study of history is strongly rooted in real life experiences and wherever possible children are given first-hand experience of artefacts. Outside visitors and trips to local places of historical interest are embraced. History is taught in a cross curricular way, with all topics strongly linked to a high- quality text. Children are immersed in language with a focus on developing vocabulary and literacy skills through historical enquiry. Our young learners are engaged with their locality and the wider world impact through the study of relevant national events such as Remembrance Day and Guy Fawkes. It is our aim that by thinking critically about the past our children will be curious about the world around them and grow into outward looking citizens.
