Welcome to Year One and Year Two Robins Class
This half term we will centre our learning around the theme of “What a wonderful world.” We will launch our learning with our class story ‘Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. We will complete this learning by writing our own narrative. This story will lead into our wider curriculum focus of Geography answering the question ‘What are the similarities and differences between my local area and Norway?’ The children will explore their local area on a locality walk and then learn about similarities and differences of Norway and Cornwall.
In Maths, Year One we will be learning about Place Value within 20, beginning to think about tens and ones, and then move onto Addition and Subtraction within 20. Year Two pupils will be completing Addition and Subtraction with tens and ones, moving to Shape, and finally Money.
In P.E the children will create their own class dance working together, interpreting music, moving their bodies expressively, focusing on timing, rhythm, movement and performance.
Movement, expression and creativity will be carried into our art lessons as the children explore sculpture looking at and creating their own sculptures inspired by Alberto Giacometti.
You can find out more about what will be learning on our half term plan below.
Homework books will be sent home every Wednesday and we collect them back in at school on Monday mornings. Spellings for Year 2 children can be found in homework books.
