Welcome to Year One and Year Two Robins Class
This half term we will centre our learning around the theme of âAmazing Animals and Humans.â
We will launch our learning in English with the focus of âThe Place Value of Punctuation and Grammar,â using resources from Grammarsaurus. Our class story is âThe Koala Who Could,â by Rachel Bright. This story links to our wider curriculum focus of Science answering the question, 'How can humans stay healthy?â The children will be learning about the needs of animals, life-cycles  and healthy diets and exercise. Art will look at the work of the Mexican artist,  Frida Kahlo who painted self portraits.
In Maths, pupils will be learning about Place Value to 100 with tens and ones, then moving on to Addition and Subtraction with two-digit numbers within 100.
In P.E the children will be focusing on Invasion Games, learning about tactics to move, negotiate space, pass and retrieve balls and play games as teams.
Homework books will be sent home every Friday and we collect them back in to school on Wednesday morning.
Please make sure you listen to your child read as often as possible- at least 4 times weekly. Books will be changed every 3 days during Read, Write, Inc lessons. Children in the comprehension groups will change their chapter books in class as necessary.
Tapestry will be used when appropriate for us to share practical learning, special events, homework and important class messages. Please make sure you check the app regularly.
PE days are Thursday and Friday.
Please make sure your PE kit is named and kept in school at all times. We will send kits home at the end of every half term to be washed.
Thank you for your continued support
