Welcome to Kingfishers - Reception
This half term our learning theme is “Marvellous Me.”
The children will be immersed in a range of stories and rhymes to support their communication and language development. The children will enjoy a range of stories linked to families, feelings and what makes us unique .
Throughout our learning theme the children will investigate our enquiry question:
“What makes me special?”
In literacy the children will learn to develop their fine motor skills through a range of fun, hands on activities. They will learn about themselves and talk about what makes them special through a variety of fun activities.
During our art lessons, the children will learn about the artist Pablo Kahlo whilst looking at and creating their own self-portrait. They will explore what they look like using mirrors and explore colour and colour mixing to create different colours.
In Maths, the children will be focusing on developing their counting skills by counting objects, actions and amounts using a range of practical resources. They will explore the concepts of capacity and weight through hands-on activities. The children will learn about repeating patterns, identifying, continuing and creating their own patterns using a variety of materials and resources.
In PE the children will focus invasion games where they will explore ways to pass a ball, retrieve and stop a ball using different parts of the body.
In R.E Reception will explore the question:
‘Why is the word of God so important to Christians?’
We will use Tapestry to share your child's learning with you and to share important class messages. Please make sure you check the app regularly. Click here for Tapestry website
Please make sure book bags are brought into school daily. Kingfishers have PE on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, please ensure that your child has a named PE kit with trainers in school each day. Please send a named coat to school for your child each day.
