Welcome to Kingfishers - Reception
This half term our learning theme is “Amazing Animals.”
The children will be immersed in the story ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears.’ They will learn, retell and rewrite the story. The children will enjoy a range of stories linked to Summer, animals and materials to support their writing.
Science will be in focus this half term, the children will investigate our enquiry question:
“Where do different animals live?”
Reception will be learning about different animals and their habitats. They will be creating their own fact file about their favourite animal. They will also get to explore a range of materials and find out which materials would best to create shelter for an animal.
During our art lessons, the children will learn about the artist Yayoi Kusama. They will explore and develop their knowledge of primary and secondary colours before using dots to create their own pictures in the style of Yayoi Kusama.
In maths Reception will be looking at sharing amounts, odd and even numbers and exploring using maps to support their positional language development.
In PE the children will focus on Athletics where they learn to use their bodies to jump, run and use under and over arm throws all in preparation for their Sports Day activities.
In R.E Reception will explore the question:
‘Which stories are special and why?’
Throughout all lessons we will think about core values and our My Personal Best values honesty and courage.
We will use Tapestry to share your child's learning with you and to share important class messages. Please make sure you check the app regularly. Click here for Tapestry website
