Welcome to Kingfishers - Reception
This half term the children will spend time learning about explorers.
This half term our learning theme is “Let’s Explore!”
The children will learn about significant individuals from the past, focussing on famous explorers and the importance of their work. They will look at a range of bridges and will design and make their own bridge in DT sessions. The children will look at the places explorers have been including space and the deep sea. As they answer the question: How have explorers changed our world?
The children will continue to focus on developing their fine motor control through a range activities, including pen disco and handwriting sessions, following Morells handwriting. The children will be learning the story ‘The Billy Goats Gruff’, retelling the story as a class.
In PE the children will develop their net and wall skills; focussing on passing a ball using chest passes, underarm and overarm passes and catching a ball. They will be playing a range of games to support the development of their ball skills.
In Maths the children will be learning about numbers to 10 finding one more, one less and double to 10. They will be learning about 2D and 3D shapes and talking about their properties.
Throughout all lessons we will think about core values and our My Personal Best values- empathy and respect.
