This half term our learning theme is 'Celebrations.'

The children will be immersed in a range of stories and rhymes to support their learning of celebrations and festivals.

Throughout our learning theme the children will investigate our enquiry question:

'What do people celebrate and why?'

In literacy the children will learn to use and apply their phonic knowledge to write simple words. They will learn about a range of festivals and celebrations including Halloween, Diwali, Bonfire Night, Remembrance Day and Christmas. They will learn about what makes them special through a variety of fun and engaging activities.

During our art lessons, the children will learn about a wide range of skills to create different effects when painting and creating. The children will be using clay to create their own Diva lamps and will be creating bonfire pictures using print and paint. They will explore colour mixing.

In Maths, the children will be focusing on developing their knowledge of numbers 1 to 5. They will be developing their understanding of number through subitising, finding one more and one less than a given number. They will explore shapes and will create their own shape pictures.

In PE the children will focus on gymnastic skills thinking about how they can move their bodies in different ways.

In R.E Reception will explore the question:

‘Why is Christmas special for Christians?'

Throughout all lessons we will think about our core values of Nurture, Respect and Ambition.

Please make sure book bags are brought into school daily. Kingfishers have PE on Wednesdays and Fridays, please ensure that your child has a named PE kit with trainers in school each day. Please send a named coat to school for your child each day.
