Our Design and Technology curriculum is designed to develop children's creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills through a challenging, engaging and inspiring programme of learning. Wherever possible, learning is linked to high-quality texts and current topics to provide meaningful contexts and real-life purposes for designing and making.
At Biscovey Primary Academy - Infants and Nursery, children are taught to design, make and evaluate a range of products while developing the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to become confident designers. Design and Technology is often taught through cross-curricular links, enabling children to apply and develop their vocabulary, communication and literacy skills through planning, discussion and evaluation.
Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to ensure that children build on their knowledge, understanding and skills over time. Through a range of practical experiences, children learn to investigate, experiment, create and refine their ideas, developing resilience and confidence in the design process.
We celebrate children's achievements by showcasing and displaying their work, recognising both the process and the final outcome. Our aim is to equip all children with the knowledge, skills and confidence to design, innovate and create, preparing them for the opportunities and challenges of the wider world.
