Emergency School Closure
28th August 2019
UPDATE ON MINING INVESTIGATION WORK
Following extensive surveys by mining consultants during the summer break, mining features have been identified within our school boundary.
The safety of pupils, parents and staff is of paramount importance and the decision has been made to close access to the top playground. Whilst not directly at risk, classes in the top classroom block in the vicinity of the affected area will, therefore, temporarily relocate.
Year 2 will move to the classrooms at the rear of the Biscovey Academy Junior site and the Year 1 class will be relocated to within the main building of Biscovey Infants.
To allow time to make these changes, Biscovey Nursery and Infants’ Academy will delay opening until Monday 9th September.
We have taken these justifiably cautious measures to not only ensure that every member of the Biscovey Nursery & Infants' Academy remains safe at all times, but to minimise further disruption to the children's education as remedial works are carried out.
Biscovey Junior Academy will open as planned on Thursday 5th September.
If you have any questions, or concerns, please may we ask you email firstname.lastname@example.org rather than sharing via social media platforms.
Thank you for your understanding, patience and co-operation.
A reminder that, should the school need to close due to inclement weather, we will inform local radio stations (Pirate FM and Radio Cornwall) so that parents do not need to telephone us as this blocks the line. We will also post on our website, Facebook and Twitter feed as well as texting out to all parental contacts.
If the decision is made to close the school during the day, we will not close until the last pupil has been safely collected.
