This half term we will centre our learning around the theme of ‘Once upon a time’. We will kickstart our half term with science, where we will be looking at materials as we answer our inquiry question;
“Which materials would keep us dry?”
We have lots more exciting opportunities planned, including bridge building. The children will plan, make and evaluate their own bridges. In our literacy lessons we will be reading the story “The Three Billy Goats Gruff”. Over the coming weeks, we will be learning the story, innovating the story and creating our own versions of the story.
In maths we will be continuing to look at addition and subtraction within 10, before moving on to geometry, looking at 2D and 3D shapes. In P.E we will be developing our gymnastics skills exploring balance, basic gymnastic movements and exploring the use of apparatus. Towards the end of the half term, we will be preparing for Christmas with arts and crafts and look forward to our Nativity performance. Throughout the half term, we will also be learning about historical event, such as remembrance.
Children will be bringing home homework books with a homework sheet home linked to in school learning activities. The children are to complete homework each week and return books to class every Monday.
We will continue to use Tapestry to share your child's learning with you and to share important class messages. Please make sure you check the app regularly. Click here for Tapestry website
