Welcome to Year One Swallows Class
Our theme this half term is 'Dragons'.
The children will be learning the story "There's no Such Thing as a Dragon', eventually innovating the text to create their own story.
For P.E this half term our focus is on dance, the children will explore a range of different dance moves and learn a choreographed dragon themed dance.
In History the children will explore a range of historic and modern day objects, making comparisons. In Science the children will learn all about the characteristics of a range of everyday materials and in DT the children will use their knowledge of materials to create a waterproof shelter for a dragon. In Art the children will continue to build upon their drawing skills to create their own dragon artwork. In addition to this, the children will explore creating their own art using ICT. In mathematics the children will continue to learn about place value and solve addition and subtraction calculations within 20. Throughout our R.E lessons, the children will enquire and find out whether it was always easy for Jesus to show friendship.
Our P.E days are Monday and Thursday.
P.E kits will be sent home on a Thursday. Please can these be washed and returned ready for Monday. Please remember to include trainers in your P.E bag and clearly label all clothing.
Swallows class will have a weekly outdoor learning lesson every Tuesday. Please send your child on this day with their outdoor learning kit.
We will be using Seesaw to share homework for your child. Please ask us if you need any support with using or accessing Seesaw.
As the weather is unpredictable at this time of year, please send your child to school with a coat each day.
