Welcome to Foundation Stage One

In our Nursery we are dedicated to helping every child to meet their individual next steps.
Our enabling environment allows children to access exciting learning opportunities and to develop independence.
We follow The Early Years Curriculum.

Children learn in a variety of ways to address the following areas of learning.
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design
Each day in the Nursery is a busy day. We let the children lead their own learning and we teach through play. Each day we set up small group adult-led activities which help to develop essential skills and help to prepare the children for Foundation Stage 2. We appreciate that all children are unique and that they all develop at different rates. We ensure that all children are supported to make progress and we teach them to be proud of their own achievements.
All of our Nursery Staff are Paediatric First Aid trained.
Honey Bees: are the youngest children in our Nursery. The children in Honey Bees are 2 and 3 years old.
Bumble Bees:  are the Nursery children who are 3 years old. Children start in Bumble Bees the September after their 3rd Birthday.

We use 'Tapestry' to share with parents what their children have been doing in the Nursery. Tapestry is an online journal which can be logged into from home. Tapestry is used to set ‘home learning’ tasks. At Biscovey we value the contributions that parents make to their child’s journal. Parents can add their own observations and comment on what their child has been doing in the nursery.
